Born in Bangor, Co. Down in 1950, Charlie Whisker is a graduate of the Belfast College of Art. He taught painting at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin from 1981 to 1987. In 1994 he moved to Los Angeles to work as a Video Director. His work has won International awards and he was nominated for a Grammy for his video work with Bob Dylan. Whisker has held solo exhibitions at the Solomon Gallery, Dublin, the Kerlin Gallery, Dublin, the Hendriks Gallery, Dublin and On The Wall Gallery, Belfast. He was a participant at the 1985 & 1987 Irish Exhibitions of Living Art and at the 1988 New Irish Art, North and South exhibition, which travelled to New York City. He is a highly regarded artist whose work is in the collections of the Arts Council, Allied Irish Banks, the Ulster Museum and private collectors such as members of U2, Steven Soderberg, John Boorman, Paul McGuinness and Lord Henry Mountcharles. Whisker lives and works in Dublin.
