Phil Sanders

Phil Sanders is a collaborative master printer, author, educator, and artist.  In 2009 Sanders founded PS Marlowe, a printer & publisher of fine art prints and consulting firm for artists and arts businesses.  PS Marlowe’s studio, gallery and offices are located in Asheville, NC with a satellite in New York City.  Sanders authored Prints and Their Makers (Princeton Architectural Press, 2020), winner of the 2021 IFPDA book award.  Sanders served as COO of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts and Director/Master Printer of its program, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City and worked as the master printer and studio director for Universal Limited Art Editions, NY.  Sanders has lectured extensively (Museum of Modern Art, NY, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, Library of Congress, DC, Royal College of Art, London) and taught at Stanford University, San Francisco State University, and Penland School of Craft.  Sanders’ personal artworks are in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, Yale University Art Gallery, CT, Library of Congress, Washington DC, and RISD Museum, Providence, RI among others.

 

Education has been a major focus of Sanders’ work having trained collaborative printers in Europe, Africa, and North America and produced printmaking, educational videos for the Museum of Modern Art, NY.  Sanders authored a book on contemporary collaborative printmaking, Prints and Their Makers (Princeton Architectural Press, 2020), and provides educational tours for collectors at major art fairs. 

Sanders has maintained a personal art practice alongside his work as a collaborative printer, publisher, educator, and arts consultant.  Sculpture, printmaking, books, and drawing are Sanders’ primary media with personal artworks in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, Yale University Art Gallery, CT, Library of Congress, Washington DC, and RISD Museum, Providence, RI among others.  Sanders prints have been published by Forth Estate, Brooklyn, NY, Endless Editions, NY, NY, and Stoney Road Press, Dublin, Ireland

Stoney Road Press provide a bespoke framing service for traditional and contemporary art in all mediums.

We’ll help you size and select the perfect frame that matches your space and your new artwork. Older pieces, too, can benefit from being reframed – fix the mounting or with the addition of non-reflective glass.
